“Score a public win for my work on ML compilers and present at the PyTorch conference.” That was one of my personal annual goals for 2022. Back then, I had no idea how to get to the speaker list of the PyTorch conference, but it did come true.
Setting and sharing personal annual goals publically has been a magic tool for my self-growth over the past few years. Here they are for 2023.
Phrase of the year for 2023
Follow the natural rhythm.
Personal goals for 2023
What would you like to be your biggest win?
Establish a charismatic, warm, and confident presence in professional, social, and travel settings.
Score a different major public win on PT2 because hitting it big for the second time is hard.
What would make 2023 a truly amazing year for you?
I score another major win on PT2, work effortlessly, continued to expand my scope, and created spaciousness in my org;
I am seen as a great communicator, become the public face of the work my team does, and am at ease with giving keynotes and on camera;
I feel great about my physiques, exhibiting confidence in all my contexts (at work, with friends, in the family, and while traveling);
I interact with higher caliber people – people that I admire – and have the confidence to feel expanded around them instead of feeling diminished;
I do not procrastinate on any family tasks, take all my PTOs on travel, and build the home with great memories and rituals;
I have many memorable food experiences in good company;
I have many more new experiences, and having fun has become easy.
Which SMART goals will you commit to this year?
(On self-expression) Publish at least one content per month on Pen{g}sieve; experiment with new ways for sharing (e.g., video, short-form, curation);
(On work) Score another major win on PT2 and lead the project with a new level of audacity;
(On MTP) Organize two practice groups; give quarterly talks on growth; start Pen{g}sieve@Meta for short-form sharing in the workplace;
(On health) Feel good about my physique (weigh <125lb); make dressing for work, social, travel, and special occasions enjoyable; create a capsule wardrobe;
(On family) Have one good family meal every day with food made with love;
(On relationship) Have 26+ in-person 1-on-1 get-together with friends;
(On learning) Take the Yoga teacher training;
(On play) Attend one pop/rock concert; create my music playlist;

I'm sure the PyTorch conference was great but having you talk at CGO was just awesome!
Great to read your annual review again. I will keep learning how to talk with myself deeply. Your leading is important and very helpful. Thank you .
